How to Participate!

Easy and Fun!
1) Mark your calendar for the 2nd Saturday in August at North Beach Junior/Senior High School, Ocean Shores.
2) Set a goal! How much would you like to raise to help needy animals in our community?
3) Print out our Participant Form from the Forms and Docs page and start contacting your friends and loved ones for donations to support you and the Ocean Shores Woof-a-thon, and its charity beneficiaries.
4) Spread the word to your friends and contacts! Consider working together as a group! Post it on your Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. (See Tips below for more fun ways to reach your goal and involve others!). We also need Volunteers, Vendors, and Sponsors!
5) Come to the event at North Beach Junior / Senior High School (Ocean Shores WA) on the date above. Registration begins at 10am. Bring your participant form and any donations you've collected or plan to donate yourself. (If you're not able to attend, please mail in your form with any donations prior to the event). Pick up any prizes you've won at the registration desk.
6) At the event, walk the route, visit our vendor booths, buy tickets to win amazing prizes... HAVE A TAIL-WAGGING GOOD TIME! We'll see you there!
Donation and Prize details:
To participate in the Ocean Shores Woof-A-Thon, you can download our donation form and start collecting donations! Or feel free to just come to the event and make a donation in any amount you choose. Contact all your friends to support you in supporting the beneficiaries of Ocean Shores Woof-a-Thon.
Prizes will be awarded for different levels of contribution collected by participants.
Examples of 2019 prize levels:
$20 - Get a free gift bag with goodies!
$30 - Safety light for your dog's collar. (plus above items)
$50 - Rope ring dog toy. (plus above items)
$100 - Flip open dog water bottle with attached bowl. (plus above items)
$200 or more - Choice of a pet travel bag set, or large golf umbrella. (plus above items)
Participant forms can be submitted with donations at registration desk on the day of the event, beginning at 10am. If you prefer, you can mail in your participant form and donations to arrive no later than Aug 5th to our PO Box on our Contact page.

- Start collecting donations – ask family, friends, co-workers, etc.
- Make a button of your pet as a conversation starter. When someone comments on your button, ask if he or she is interested in sponsoring you in the walk for homeless animals.
- Have a bake sale, with the proceeds going towards your sponsorship.
- Place a candy jar on your desk, with donations going towards your sponsorship.
- Wash a dog for donation.
- Place a dog dish on your desk at work, and ask co-workers for donations.
- Ask friends and relatives to pass your donation form around at their bridge clubs, churches, and social events (be sure and attach a photo of your pet.)
- Take a donation form to the bus stop, daycare, or school and ask for donations.
- Take orders and make sack lunches (“doggie bags”) for your co-workers. Your “profit” is donations toward your sponsorship (try the same idea with the daily latte orders for colleagues.)
- Use this event to help teach your children about the importance of supporting worthwhile causes. Every time he or she accomplishes a task (washing dishes, taking out the garbage, cleaning up the room) without a reminder from you, contribute a dollar toward their donations.
- Host a neighborhood party with a donation as a “cover charge.”
- Use your talents! Bake a loaf of bread for every team member raising more than $75 in donations.

- Contribute your own pledge first! Bring your lunch to work for a week
- Ask your spouse or partner. Make him/her a romantic dinner instead of going out.
- Ask your doctor, dentist, or other health care provider. Ask him/her to put an Ocean Shores Woof-a-Thon donation jar in the office.
- Ask your Facebook and Twitter and LinkedIn friends! Ask if they have a pet toy under your couch, if so, send me $10! Is your dogs tail over 8”? Send me $5! etc
- Ask a friend. Have several friends over for dinner and ask them all at once.
- Ask your neighbors. Let them know how our beneficiary charities benefit our community!
- Ask a relative. Encourage her/him to give money for each pet in the family.
- Ask a church/temple member. Have a request placed in the bulletin for one-time offering.
- Ask your boss/co-workers. Display a donation bucket in your place of business.
- Ask your hair stylist. Perhaps he/she could set aside tips for one day each week.
